Ruth Roman (n e Gold) was born at Lynn in Massachusetts. The parents of her were Lithuanian Jewish Mary Pauline and Abraham Roman. In her early years, Ruth Roman's carnival-barker father passed away in a tragic way, which caused her mother, Mary Pauline (Gold) to work as a waitress or cleaner to help them survive. Ruth was a student at the school located in Boston's poorest tenement area. Her school was closed in two short years to pursue acting. Her path did not come without challenges. When she was in New York, her first task was to pose stills for crime magazines. acting work she longed for was not available. She then worked as an hat-checker at the nightclub before calling the shots and moving back to Boston. She was in Boston when she worked at late night, she was an actor for New England Repertory Company and during the day, was an usherette. She also been accepted into Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she specialized in drama.
